CFF and Friends of the Ford had a pleasant day out yesterday clearing a large blockage near the mouth of the Myddyfi. This was one of the blockages identified on the walk-over earlier in the year.
Jamie and Gareth were on the chainsaws, and Tony and Glynn were in the water.
The timber build up was prettty bad, but what was really causing a problem was that the gaps below and between the logs were jam packed tight with twigs, nylon bale netting and silage wrapping. We were up to our chests pulling this out with hands and hooks
Still a bit to do and more to clear but we made a good start and now there is a good opening that fish can pass through. Pleased to see a good sized eel in there, getting fat on a sheeps carcass.
